What are Shopee Live Violations and Penalties?

Important

Please strictly follow the guidelines below, if the stream is found to have violations, this could result in termination or permanent banning of your livestream access.



Make sure to avoid future violations by following this guideline to have the best Livestream experience:

1. Low Quality Labeling 


Poor Live Content (Static Screen and Pre-recorded Video)

Sellers do not interact with their viewers and the stream only shows items or background.


Examples:

• Seller has no interaction and waiting for viewers without advice:

• No interaction for more than 10 mins at the beginning of session

• No interaction for more than 5 mins in the middle of session

• Stream shows products or items only and no live host to interact with viewers (mannequin, clothes, toys, accessories, etc.)

• Stream shows screen display of recorded video or advertisement for entire or most of stream

• Stream shows host/person only but no interaction with viewers

• Stream shows background only (warehouse, store, room, cabinet, wall, etc.)

Technical Quality Issues

All technical issues were experienced while streaming due to unstable internet connection, black screen, bad video, and audio quality.

Examples:

• Black screen or camera is covered

• Landscape streaming (using phone)

• Video is laggy

• Audio is choppy or unclear

• Bad lighting  

• Error in Shopee account (app crashed and did not terminate session)

• Blurry or pixelated stream

• Unsteady cameras



2. Explicit Content 


Inappropriate Streaming Content

Avoid unprofessional streaming and obscene content & products. Sellers should also wear appropriate clothing.


Examples:

 Smoking and vaping or re-enactment during the stream

• Streaming with a host or person in the background wearing inappropriate clothing

• Revealing clothes

•Topless person in the stream

• Session title, cover image, and stream that violate ‘adult item selling’ policy

• The session title contains sensitive keywords 

• The cover image contains uncensored and/or realistic textures of private body parts

• The stream shows a live demo of using the adult products

Harassing Others and Cursing Words

Avoid the use of profanity, and offensive and hate language to harass, threaten, or maliciously embarrass buyers or viewers.

Examples:

• Use of vulgar/cursing words during stream 

• Use of offensive language towards buyers

• Seller telling malicious and sensitive jokes

• Playing music with swear words/lyrics 

• Posting users name as bogus buyer or joy reserver/miner


Unsupervised Minors

Shopee Live does not allow minors (below 18 years old) to do live streaming without adult guidance or consent from parent/legal guardian.


Examples:

• Minors selling/streaming without adult supervision

• Adult is not visible during the entire stream 

• Adult is not seen but only heard in the video



3. Inappropriate Products


Promoting Illegal Items Avoid promoting items prohibited by Shopee that do not comply with the law based on our general listing guidelines.


Examples:

• FDA Warned Items 

• Government Regulated and Issued Items (DOH, DTI, PNP regulated items)

• Weapons/Firearms and Ammunition 

• Combustible Items, Explosive, and Hazardous Chemicals (cigarette lighter, fireworks, etc.)

• Prohibited Pet Care, Animals, and Wildlife Items

• Currency, Credits, and Artifacts (paid raffle slots, credit/debit card, coins and bills, stocks, etc.)

• Tobacco and Alcoholic Beverages

• Medical Devices, Medicines, and Supplements

• Drugs and associated Paraphernalia



Promoting Other Shopee-Prohibited Items 

Avoid promoting prohibited items by Shopee based on our general listing guidelines.

Examples:

•  Pre-loved or used personal items (undergarments contact lenses, feeding bottles, breast pump, pacifier, teether, diaper cloth, contact lens)

• Shopee Mystery Items and prepacked parcel (individual items not showcased)• Prohibited food-related items (details not showcased during stream)

• Food products without expiration date 

• Unlabelled and unpackaged food products 

• Homemade Food

• Repacked decant / takal food items

• Exclusive Distribution Rights Infringement

• Physical currency/credits such as loyalty cards, stored value cards, sim cards, load card• Electronic surveillance equipment

• Political and cultural-sensitive products 


Counterfeit
Promoting counterfeit/fake items with legal complaints. Counterfeit products are made to look exactly like an item from an existing brand to deceive or defraud.

Examples:

• Fake Calvin Klein products sold below SRP (see photo)

• Fake Tony Moly/ Etude House

• Fake / Refurbished Mobile Phones

• Fake Starbucks mugs and tumblers

• Pirated CD's and DVD's

• Flash drives/hard drive disks with movies

• Digital accounts (premium accounts and services)

• Illegal publications, books, films, videos, and/or video games (based on PH listing guidelines)

• Other fake products or replicas of existing official products



4. Misleading Information

Inaccurate promotional content and exaggerated product facts and features. (Should follow the price mandated by DTI)


Examples:

• Profiteering of Face Shields, Face Masks, Nebulizers, Alcohols, etc.

• Selling overpriced products or above SRP

• Seller giving false information or description regarding the item

 

Directing Transactions Outside Shopee 

Prevent outside Shopee transactions to avoid scams, bogus buyers, and fraudulent activities.


Examples:

• Advising the buyers to place orders through external websites (other online selling platforms) and/or social media accounts

• Guiding the buyers to transact offline

• Telling buyers to make payments through Remittance centers that are not Shopee-supported

• Promoting Cash on Pickup

• Asking for partial advance payment/down payment in the title and cover image

 

 

Promoting Social Media Accounts and Personal Information

Do not advise buyers to follow your social media account/s and/or ask for their contact information.


Examples:

• Promoting social media accounts in the title, cover image, and stream

• Contains a link to any social media page in the title, cover image, and stream

• Sharing personal contact information

• Asking for the buyer’s contact information

 

 

5. Spamming 

Unsolicited messages or advertisements sent repeatedly (Seller offers job/services)



6. Special Guidelines for Shopee Live Campaigns 

Suspected to perform buying and selling services that are prohibited in Shopee (Use your vouchers carefully. Please do not entertain viewer requests to add products to your orange bags.)
