Setting up multiple verification methods can help prevent unauthorized actions if Shopee detects any unusual behaviour on your account.
For example, if Shopee detects a change in login behaviour, you may be asked to fill in a code sent to your email or phone.
With this process, we can better verify your identity and protect your confidential data.
Here are the methods of verification for your Shopee account:
Phone number
Email address
Account password
ShopeePay PIN
Facial recognition (only for iOS users)
Phone Number, Email Address, and Account Password
To set up or update your verification: Go to Me tab> Select the ⚙ icon > Account & Security> Set Phone, Email, and Password on the Shopee App.
ShopeePay PIN & Facial Recognition
This can be set up in ShopeePay. This verification method is used for ShopeePay transactions, and can also be used for verifying your identity during Shopee account logins or other actions related to your account’s security.
PIN number
To set up ShopeePay and your PIN number, you’ll need to set up your phone number first with these steps: Me Tab > ShopeePay > Setup ShopeePay
If you have already set up ShopeePay, change your ShopeePay PIN number regularly to secure your account with these steps: Go to Me tab > ShopeePay > Select ⚙ or the settings icon > Change ShopeePay PIN.
Verify your ID details
By adding your correct and valid identification card (ID) details, you’ll be able to verify and access more ShopeePay functions such as facial recognition for verification. Access this with these steps: Go to Me tab > ShopeePay > Select the settings icon > ID Verification. You’ll need to upload an image of your ID and an image of your face.
⚠️Note • You should never share verification codes or links with anyone, including Shopee’s staff. We’ll never ask you to do so. • Fill in codes or use links only when you are prompted to do so on the Shopee App or the Shopee website. • If there’s an attempt to change your ShopeePay Wallet PIN using a new device, you might receive an SMS. This is to notify you of the attempt of changing the ShopeePay Wallet PIN. |
**ALERT: Recently, scammers pretend to be from Shopee or organizations you know, claiming that you have won something. If you’re unsure about the information received, end the conversation and contact Shopee to confirm.**
