Definition of “Personal Data”


The term "personal data" refers to any information about a person who can be recognized from that information alone, or from that information and other information to which the organization has access to. Personal information like names, phone numbers, email addresses, and mailing addresses are a few examples. User’s personal information is accessible to sellers primarily so they can process and/or complete transactions/orders.

 

Important Rules:

 

1. Unauthorized use of personal data outside Shopee’s platform - Users of Shopee are not permitted to utilize the personal information included on the Shopee platform. Shopee owns these data, and it is not intended to be used outside of its platform.

a. Unsolicited marketing materials (e.g. Viber, LINE, Whatsapp, WeChat, etc.) or other social media groups for promotional purposes;

b. Sending emails, SMS or call spamming;

c. Unauthorized use of personal data for personal gains (harassment on social media, chat, SMS,

calls, etc.); and,

d. Other means of communication with the buyers outside Shopee’s mobile application.


2. Unauthorized disclosure of User’s personal data - Buyers are not allowed to share other User’s personal data with unauthorized individuals, especially those users who did not consent to the use of it. Here are some examples:

a. Contacting users outside the platform without their consent;

b. Harassing other users by using their personal data;


Your Shopee account may be permanently banned or experience account restrictions from the platform if you violate any of the aforementioned regulations. Shopee evaluates each matter internally in accordance with its corporate policies and standards.
