To ensure the security of your information and ShopeePay transactions, we recommend the following tips & guidelines:
1. Secure login ID and password or PIN.

• Do not disclose login ID, password, and ShopeePay PIN.

ShopeePay has a new feature that has added security where you can enable your face ID or scan your fingerprints on the sensor to activate biometrics.

Do not store login credentials (e.g. ID, password, ShopeePay PIN) on a computer or mobile phone.

Regularly change passwords or PINs and avoid using easy-to-guess passwords such as names or birthdays.

2. Keep information private and confidential.

Do not disclose personal information (e.g. address, mother’s maiden name, telephone number, social security number, bank account number, email address) unless the one collecting is trustworthy and reliable.

3. Keep records of all online transactions.

Regularly check transaction history details to make sure that there are no unauthorized transactions.

Check emails, SMS messages, and Shopee push notifications regularly for information on transactions.

Immediately notify Shopee Philippines if there are unauthorized transactions on the account.

4. Check for the right and secure website.

Beware of bogus or “look-alike” websites designed to deceive consumers. Shopee’s official e-commerce platform is shopee.ph.

Check if the website is “secure” by checking the Universal Resource Locators (URLs) which should begin with “https” and a closed lock icon on the status bar in the browser is displayed. To confirm the authenticity of the site, double-click on the lock icon to display the security certificate information of the site.

Always enter the website URL directly into the web browser. Avoid being redirected to a website that may not be secured.

If possible, use software that encrypts or scrambles the information when sending sensitive information or performing e-banking transactions.

5. Protect personal computers from hackers, viruses, and malicious programs.

Install a personal firewall and reputable anti-virus program to protect personal computers from virus attacks and malicious programs.

6. Do not leave computers unattended when logged in.

Log off from any Internet banking website when the computer is unattended, even if it’s for a short while.

Always log off once an e-banking transaction is completed and clear the memory cache and transaction history to remove account information.

7. Check the website’s privacy policy and disclosures.

Before providing any personal financial information to a website, determine how the information will be used or shared with others and make sure that you read and understand website disclosures specifically on the refund, shipping, account debit/ credit policies, and other Terms and Conditions.

8. Other internet security measures

Do not send any personal information particularly the password or PIN via ordinary e-mail.

Contact Shopee Philippines to discuss security concerns and remedies to any online e-services account issues.

9. Credit cards and mobile phones

Never disclose credit card information to anyone.

The fraudulent use of credit cards is not limited to the loss or theft of the actual card. A capable criminal only needs to know the credit card number to fraudulently make numerous charges against the account.

Make sure to sign all your credit cards as soon as you receive them.

Do not disclose your Mobile Banking PIN (MPIN) to anyone.

Do not let other people use your mobile phone associated with your Shopee account. If the phone is lost or stolen, report the incident immediately to Shopee Philippines.
