There are many different kinds of online scams that target Shopee users like you. Here are some usual scams that you should watch out for:
Phishing: This is a fraudulent attempt to access your sensitive data such as credit card details, bank account information, and password. Typically, it asks you to click a link to a suspicious website. This may come in the form of calls, emails, texts, and random chats sent through online messaging platforms like Viber, Telegram, and WhatsApp.
Contest fraud: This is usually done through SMS or other messaging apps. It asks you to send money to an account in order for you to claim a prize that you did not actually win.
Websites or social media pages impersonating Shopee: These are websites or social media pages designed to look like Shopee. They may ask you to provide personal information, financial information, or passwords.
Shopee takes user security and data privacy very seriously. We will only contact you through our official channels and we will never ask for your personal information.
