The Safety and Security of customers are our top priority at Shopee. We have noticed a significant number of fraudulent transactions happening when buyers are redirected outside the Shopee platform. 

Therefore, please avoid transacting outside Shopee to prevent you from being scammed and be protected from fraud transactions.

Shopee does not guarantee the validity of transactions made outside the Shopee App or website. If you encounter any outside transaction, please report it immediately.

We recommend using the Shopee Supported Payment Methods for safe transactions in-App or web.

Here are the Shopee Supported Payment Methods:

1. ShopeePay

2. SeaBank

3. SPayLater

4. Cash on Delivery 

5. Payment Center / E- Wallet

6. Credit/ Debit Card

7. Online Banking

8. Linked Bank Account

Allowed transactions within Shopee:

1. The seller can message a buyer related to customer service, such as:

• Greeting buyers (Ex: Occasional greetings)

• Promoting Seller Shop Upcoming promotion and discounts, new products or returning of the product, etc.  (Ex: “Please follow my store”, “Please buy/come again next time”, etc)

• Communication-related to orders (Ex: Cancellation, Delivery Time)

2. Redirecting buyers to a link to clarify information about the product (Ex. Buyer can be redirected to a link to check if it’s the correct item, a buyer can ask if they have an identical or similar product, etc.)

Transactions that are not allowed:

1. Seller is promoting business and directing Shopee users outside of Shopee to make purchases

2. Seller is sharing personal contact information and asking the Buyer to contact him/her directly with the intention to buy/sell outside of Shopee (E.g. Sharing contact details such as Phone number, personal payment information, email address, Facebook link, etc.)

Example of Scam/Fraud:

• Seller directs you to another website and asks you to transact there

• Placing an order that requires a down payment or advance payment.

• Beware of receiving emails from websites that look like Shopee. 

Report Encounter to Scam/fraud

When you encounter scam/fraud, instances of being directed outside Shopee to transact, or any suspicious or inappropriate concerns, please report it to us immediately. Your safety and security are our top priority.
